National Research Conference

National Research Conference on Impact of Mathematics Specialists

The coalition held a major national research conference, Research and Development Conference: Preparing and Implementing Successful Mathematics Coaching Programs, on the impact of Mathematics Specialists. This conference was hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University June 7-8, 2016 under the direction of Drs. Aimee Ellington and Joy Whitnack. Mathematics educators, mathematicians, policy makers and other stakeholders presented white papers that addressed research and development work associated with Mathematics Specialist programs. Presenters represented institutions and professional organizations across the country and included nationally recognized researchers that conduct research about mathematics teacher leaders (e.g., mathematics specialists, math coaches, instructional math leaders, and so on). Additionally, papers presented at this conference will be disseminated in a Special Issue of the Journal of Mathematical Behavior.
